Thomas J. Candon was appointed deputy commissioner of Banking in June 1993 and also served as deputy commissioner of the Securities Division from August 2008 to February 2014.
Mr. Candon has experience with a Vermont bank as a municipal services officer, investment and deposit services officer, mortgage banking manager, and operations division manager. He held registered securities representative and registered securities principal licenses while at the bank.
Prior to joining the bank Mr. Candon was executive vice president of the Vermont Bankers Association, associate director of the Vermont League of Cities and Towns, and statistical analyst for the Vermont State Employees Association.
Mr. Candon serves on the Board of Trustees of the Vermont State Teachers Retirement System, the Board of Commissioners of the Vermont Housing Finance Agency, State Liaison Committee to the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, Board of the State Regulatory Registry (governing body for the Nationwide Multi-State Licensing System), past chair of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors, and serves on state regulator committees.
Mr. Candon received a bachelor of science degree in economics from Siena College in Loudonville, NY, and graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware.
He resides in Shelburne with his wife.
