Biography of Michael Pieciak

Mike Pieciak, deputy commissioner of the Securities Division, has practiced business law at Downs Rachlin Martin in Burlington where he worked with commercial transactions, corporate governance and investment and financing transactions. He most recently worked with the mergers and acquisitions group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom in New York City.

He has always been interested in politics and served as executive page to Gov. Howard Dean and later as a Senate Judiciary Committee intern for Sen. Patrick Leahy in Washington, DC.

He grew up in Brattleboro and graduated cum laude from Union College with a degree in political science. He received his law degree summa cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law where he also served as editor-in-chief of the “Miami Law Review.”
