Molly Dillon named deputy commissioner of DFR Banking Division

MONTPELIER – Molly Dillon has been named deputy commissioner of the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation’s Banking Division, Commissioner Michael S. Pieciak announced today. Dillon has more than 30 years of experience in both retail and community banking and brings to the job a wealth of knowledge of current operations and senior management. 

She comes to DFR from Merchants Trust Co. in Burlington where she worked for eight years as senior vice president and as president of Merchants Trust Co. For more than 15 years prior, Dillon worked at TD Bank as director of personal wealth advisors, regional manager of the Banknorth Investment Group and director of marketing.

Pieciak said he is pleased to welcome Dillon to the department and is delighted to have someone with her expertise join the staff.

“Molly has an excellent understanding of community-based banking and exceptional knowledge of investment management, marketing functions and strategic planning,” he said, “and she will bring extensive experience to the department.”

Dillon said she is enthusiastic about her new career on the regulatory side of banking.

“I am excited to begin my new role as a regulator and I believe my wide range of banking experience and management skills will be an asset to the department,” she said, “and I have a great appreciation and understanding of the financial needs of the residents of our state.”

Dillon earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, did graduate work at New York University and attended National Trust School at Northwestern University. She is also a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. She serves on the Board of Trustees of Champlain College and the Honorary Board of Directors for the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties.

She lives in South Burlington. Dillon began her duties at DFR on October 16.
